Basic Requirements to become an active member:

Drill is held every Tuesday except the second Tuesday of the month which is our business meeting, drills usually take between 2 - 4 hours depending on the topic being covered. Drills are usually  held at our Brodheadsville Station or at the Monroe County Public Safety Center (Fire Academy).

At a minimum all active members are required to attend one monthly drill (approx. 2 hrs). They are also required to have taken Hazardous materials Awareness, Blood Borne Pathogen Training, and Complete either Basic firefighting training or Basic Fire Police Training within their first year.

Certification:

Presently we have members with the following national accreditations:

Hazardous Materials Awareness

Hazardous Materials Operations

Hazardous Materials Technician

Hazardous Materials EMS I

Hazardous Materials EMS II

Firefighter I

Firefighter II

Fire Officer I

Safety Officer

Fire Inspector

Fire Service Instructor I

Fire Service Instructor II

Fire Service Certification Program

The department is also a Participating Department in the Fire Service Certification Program at the 25% mark. This means that 25% of our active membership are nationally certified. The department is in the process of applying for 100% certification this means all of our active members hold a national certification (will update when we have it).

Officer Training Requirements:

The Chief must meet the following qualifications:

Be certified as a Firefighter I; Effective for the elections held for the 2010 calendar year and thereafter, be certified as Firefighter II;

Attend and receive a certificate for Incident Command System class;

Attend and receive a certificate for an annual Haz-Mat Operations refresher class;

Received certification in ten (10) certified classes from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, National Fire Academy, or the Federal Emergency Management Institute;

Certification in First Aid or higher and CPR.

The Deputy Chief must meet the following qualifications: 

Be certified as a Firefighter I; Effective for the elections held for the 2010 calendar year and thereafter, be certified as Firefighter II; 

Attend and receive a certificate for Incident Command System class; 

Attend and receive a certificate for an annual Haz-Mat Operations refresher class;

Received certification in eight (8) certified classes from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, National Fire Academy, or the Federal Emergency Management Institute; 

Certification in First Aid or higher and CPR.

The Assistant Chief must meet the following qualifications: 

Be certified as a Firefighter I; Effective for the elections held for the 2010 calendar year, be certified as Firefighter II; 

Attend and receive a certificate for Incident Command System class; 

Attend and receive a certificate for an annual Haz-Mat Operations refresher class;

Received certification in six (6) certified classes from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, National Fire Academy, or the Federal Emergency Management Institute;

Certification in First Aid or higher and CPR.

The Captains must meet the following qualifications: 

Be certified as a Firefighter I;

Attend and receive a certificate for Incident Command System class; 

Attend and receive a certificate for an annual Haz-Mat Operations Class;

Received certification in four (4) certified classes from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, National Fire Academy, or the Federal Emergency Management Institute;

Certification in First Aid or higher and CPR.

The Lieutenants must meet the following qualifications:

Be certified as a Firefighter I; 

Attend and receive a certificate for Incident Command System class; 

Attend and receive a certificate for pump class; 

Attend and receive a certificate for an annual Haz-Mat Operations refresher Class;

Received certification in four (4) certified classes from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, National Fire Academy, or the Federal Emergency Management Institute;

Certification in First Aid or higher and CPR.

The Fire Police Captain must meet the following qualifications: 

Attend and receive a certificate for basic fire police class;

Attend and receive a certificate for legal concepts class;

Attend and receive a certificate for advanced fire police class;

Hold a National Certification In Fire Police Effective 2010.

The Fire Police Lieutenant must meet the following qualifications:

Attend and receive a certificate for basic fire police class;

Attend and receive a certificate for legal concepts class; 

Hold a National Certification In Fire Police Effective 2010.

The Chief Engineer must posses the following qualifications: 

Attend and receive a certificate for pump class;

Attend and receive a certificate for an annual Haz-Mat Operations refresher class.

Certification in First Aid or higher and CPR.

The Engineers must meet the following qualifications: 

Attend and receive a certificate for pump class;

Attend and receive a certificate for an annual Haz-Mat Operations refresher class.

Certification in First Aid or higher and CPR.

The safety officers must meet the following qualifications:

National Fire Academy Safety Officer Class (Effective Year 2009);

Attend and receive a certificate for an annual Haz-Mat Operations refresher class.

Certification in First Aid or higher and CPR
